Life is good, and it is so simple when we remember why we are here.
I had the chance to speak with an amazing priest today. Thank God for him. He helped me to recover my focus on the Lord, regroup and simplify my life. Thank God for the great blessing of confession.
Here is some of what I learned today:
1. Discerning a vocation is less about the question “God what do you want me to do with my life?” and more about “what am I willing to do, what am I willing to give for Jesus?”
2. The vows that religious take (obedience, poverty, and chastity) are not only about giving these three things to God, but about giving your whole self to the Lord, professing these three vows encompass a total gift of oneself to the Lord. (It is pretty amazing to think that in August, with His help, I will lay down my life, publicly giving my whole self to Jesus, wow!)
3. Keep your eyes open for the good example of how to live as a Salesian (or good Christian), remember those good examples, and build your life on them, let them build you into a good Salesian (or good Christian) for Jesus. As for the bad examples, let them go, move on.
I am a new man. Thanks be to God.
