May is traditionally the month that we focus on the Mother of God, Mary.
For Don Bosco and all Salesians, our three great devotions are Jesus in the Eucharist, Mary the Help of Christians, and the Holy Father who is the vicar of Christ.
Devotion to Mary is usually understood as asking Mary to help and guide us to her Son Jesus. Saying the rosary each day and meditating on the mysteries, or even just saying one decade of the rosary each day during this month can help us a great deal in growing in our love for our mother who always leads us to Jesus.
When I was younger I used to think Mary is “just another saint” but now I realize as the Mother of God her whole life is lived to bring us to her Son. She is not just another person in heaven, she is our Mother and helper.
Let us draw close to her this month, increasing our prayers to her, asking her to help us to grow in specific ways and trusting in her to bring us to her Son, who is our Savior.
Mary Help of Christians, Pray for Us!
Praying the Rosary everyday cannot help but to draw you closer to Christ. If one truly meditates on the mysteries of the Rosary, a meditation on the life of Christ, from His Conception to His Resurrection and beyond can’t help bring us to Mary’s Son Jesus. Without these mysteries, the Rosary would be just rote prayers. The Rosary takes on life when one properly meditates on her mysteries. Once in meditation the prayers roll of your tongue in such a beautiful rhythm almost like a hymn. As a Rosary maker, I feel so blessed to help others discover the wonderful blessings of the Most Holy Rosary.
